It does NOT shut down or degrade my normal text-based messaging. And I still get ALL the texts from my family and friends, complete with images, etc. I have not gotten email-generated porno texts since the day I did it over a YEAR ago. I suffered for over a year with these despicable porno texts from spoofed email addresses, was told I could do nothing about it, but then found this article on this forum and followed the instructions to enable this feature on my phone number. Don't let the "experts" at AT&T or on this forum tell you otherwise. Īrticle #446389 specifically blocks texts originating from email addresses. AT&T should certainly have this choice built in so that all this is not required, but until that day. Take care, stay safe, have some patience, and BELIEVE what others who have successfully done what you are trying to do are reporting. So, much depends on the quality of the rep you are speaking with. I also asked her to make a note in my file, which she happily did. The rep confirmed that they had found the correct system and made the correct fix. Of course, I don't know yet if the fix is really in, but I'm hopeful. ll I did was use the two words, and that was enough for them to find what they were looking for. I was doubtful, but yes, calling AT&T and providing this 446389 article number (referenced in related forium posts) DOES work (as of 5-18-20 today), as well as providing the additional info about "torch" and "mind" seen in those posts (look around, you'll easily find them), which allows the rep to find the correct system in which to make the fix. I have been getting the worst of these kind of porno texts and poisoned links, multiple times a day. Spam and malicious activity is not limited to text, unfortunately. Our systems will be able to look up the sender’s email address, allowing us to take appropriate action.
Currently, customers can forward the text content to 7726 and then report this 10-digit number as the sender: 1410100000. We are working on ways to better allow customers to report these instances to us. Even incomplete reports with just the message content help us stop suspicious messages and protect others from receiving similar messages. We are aware of scammers using this method and appreciate any information customers can share, so we can work together to stop these messages. Specifically regarding SPAM texts from an email address, here's what you can do. We've had a lot of great responses in this thread, but wanted to jump in and let you all know that we are working daily to combat the SPAM epidemic.
